Our Story, Our Mission, Our Pastors

Christ Church of Grovetown is more than a building — we are a family centered on the risen Christ. Learn about the pastors God has placed here, the mission that drives us, and the community we serve.

Bishop Jim Nicholson and Pastor Connie Nicholson, pastors and founders of Christ Church of Grovetown

Pastors & Founders

Bishop Jim Nicholson is a retired Sergeant Major of the United States Army. He served with distinction through some of the most demanding conflicts of the modern era — including Operation Desert Storm, peacekeeping deployments to Bosnia, and multiple duty stations spanning the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.

After honorable service, God called him to a different battlefield. As senior pastor and co-founder of Christ Church of Grovetown, the Bishop brings the same discipline, courage, and faithfulness that defined his Army career into the pulpit — delivering expository preaching rooted in sound doctrine, fervent prayer, and Spirit-led worship.

Pastor Connie Nicholson

Pastor Connie Nicholson stood faithfully beside Bishop Jim through over twenty years of military service — through every deployment to Desert Storm and Bosnia, every PCS move, and every season of uncertainty that comes with being an Army family.

As a devoted military spouse, she sustained their family and their faith through the trials that come with serving the nation. Now as co-pastor and co-founder, she complements the Bishop's vision with her own calling — pastoral care, hospitality, intercessory prayer, and nurturing the church family.

Together, they model a ministry built on partnership, faithfulness, and love for God's people.

To worship God, make disciples, and serve our community.

01

Worship

We exist first and foremost to glorify God. Every service, every song, every prayer is an offering of worship to the One who gave His life for us.

02

Discipleship

We are committed to teaching, mentoring, and equipping believers to grow in their knowledge of Scripture and their walk with Jesus Christ.

03

Community

We serve Grovetown, Augusta, Evans, Harlem, and the Fort Gordon area with the love of Christ — through outreach, care, hospitality, and fellowship.

A church where Jesus is preached, prayer is practiced, and people are loved.

We envision Christ Church of Grovetown as a beacon of hope in the CSRA — a place where families are strengthened, lives are transformed by the Gospel, and the next generation is raised to know and serve the Lord. We are building not just for today, but for the legacy of faith that will outlast us all.

What we hold dear.

01

Scripture

The Bible is our authority, our guide, and our foundation. All teaching and practice flow from God's Word.

02

Prayer

Prayer is the lifeline of the church. We pray together in services, on Wednesday nights, and throughout the week — believing God hears and answers.

03

Family

We are a church family — connected, caring, and committed to one another. Everyone who walks through our doors is welcomed as family.

04

Worship

Authentic, Spirit-led worship is central to who we are. We gather to exalt Jesus in song, prayer, and surrendered living.

05

Service

Every believer has gifts to offer. We encourage all members to serve in ministry, using their talents for God's glory.

06

Outreach

We look beyond our walls to serve and share the Gospel with our neighbors in Grovetown, the CSRA, and beyond.

We would love to meet you.
